Trauma

No one is immune to trauma. About six of every ten men and five of every ten women experience at least one traumatic event in their lives. While many traumas are apparent, for example, combat stress or being sexually or physically assaulted, other types are less obvious. These hidden traumas could include growing up in stressful environments due to poverty, racism, neglect, bullying, violence, or feeling chronically unsafe, misunderstood, or disconnected from others. Most people fail to recognize how an emotionally stressful and overwhelming life event impacts psychological, emotional, and behavioral wellbeing. Staff at Chambers and Blohm understands the impact of trauma. Certain clinicians are trained to assist clients of all ages using evidence-based therapies, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (designed specifically for children and adolescents) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Our trauma-informed therapists create a safe, non-judgmental space that promotes self-understanding, healing, and empowerment.
